Make sure to scroll below as I have posted 70 pics or so! Don't forget when you finish the blog - it took me hours to do it!
Ok, I know it’s been a few days again. I can’t seem to keep up with the blog, personal life, planning trips and school! Well, we know the trips are planned – and the personal life has boomed within the last week – and I just posted over 70 pics to the blog, so I guess that leaves school to lack in. Ugh, I have papers up to my bloody eyes to get done. Why do they make it so hard? I don’t know why they can’t just allow you to attend the lectures & seminars, and then go about your day. Perhaps a little quiz on what we learned right after the lecture. No, you need to check out 50 trillion books for each class and write papers about who knows what and then attend the classes too. Ok, ok, I know that is what I signed up for. But I really do miss American universities… (I can’t believe I said that either, I know) But they contain structure. The courses over here aren’t structured, and it’s not just me that feels this way, it’s everyone here – including the London students themselves. I leave for Italy Thursday & I have a ton to get finished before then.
Jen – thanks for the cookies (soo good!) I know I left a message, but you didn’t call back so this is a public thanks for you.
Meanwhile – I went to see the Vagina Monologues on Saturday after I went to Abbey Road with my friend Kristen. It was really funny because we weren’t the only ones there with the same idea to get a perfect picture of “crossing the zebra lines”. It’s just like a normal pedestrian crossing that cars have to stop for. There should be a photo crossing sign there instead. It’s got to really irritate the locals who need to use Abbey Road to commute on. Regardless, we crossed it over 20 times just trying to get a good picture. After that as, I mentioned above, I went to see the show in Leicester Square (alone I might add. I like this doing things alone!) Sharon & Aimee Osbourne were supposed to be in it but dropped out at the last minute, so Rula Lenska filled in. The other two actresses were Diane Parish & Jenny Éclair. All London born actresses. I bought the tickets at 6 and it didn’t start until 8. Since I am watching what I spend now (to an extent) I didn’t really want to shop too much (ok, so I bought 1 blazer & some items at the Abbey Rd store). I really wanted to have a nice glass of wine before the show, but I knew that no one was available to meet me. So I had 2 options: 1. go by myself or 2. go by myself. I went by myself! Actually, 26 is the best age I think – I love it. Independent, world traveler. I love my life! So, I walk into a corner pub by the theatre venue and march right up to the bar, through the crowds of good looking blokes, and get myself a glass of red wine. An older couple started chatting me up noting I was from America and asked what I was doing here, how long I’ve been living here, etc. They were on their way to see a show as well and had the same idea I did about having a drink first. After they left a cute bloke named Adam asked me to watch his bag. I actually had noticed him when he first came into the bar (1. because he was alone and 2. because he was really good looking). When he came back from the loo, we started talking. He said that he couldn’t help over hear my accent (I love that!! My accent!!) and asked where I was from etc, etc. I told him this was my first venture out alone in a pub for a drink, so we talked about how it is easier and more acceptable for men to do that rather than women. But we both pointed out many people alone in the pub, both sexes. Again, London – rather, Europe – so much more open minded! When will our country learn? So as time was counting down to the show, we exchanged numbers and threw out the idea of meeting up later for another drink. The show was phenomenal as I stated before and after it was over, my phone rang – Adam. He was right down the road at another pub and asked me to join him. So I did and we had a great time. I have acquired a taste for champagne lately (ok, I think we all know that I have always that a taste for champagne = the finer things in life). So here I am with my glass of champagne and him with his pint of beer – laughing and trying to understand each other. Unlike the posh (Queens English, not Kings Tory J love ya though) accent of Londoners everywhere, Adam has the cockney accent which is a bit rough and harder to understand. We left that pub and made our way to a Salsa club down the road a bit. What fun that was. Here I met another bloke named Sessil who is actually going to teach me to Salsa dance! Spain, watch out for me!! Anyway, we had a great time. I actually met up with him again for dinner (Adam that is) last night. He lives about an hour (tube & train ride) from central London, which is a bit of a pain – but he was really cute and I wanted to see him again! Unfortunately my next 5 weekends or so are booked and I don’t know if I will get to meet with him too many more times.
But lets think ahead, shall we? I’m leaving for Italy in 2 days! I can’t wait.
Oh, this is some exciting news – I got a new pair of cowboy boots yesterday. Guess what they did to my feet? Ate a hole in each of my heels. Feels really nice too, especially when the water hits it. When will I learn? I didn’t sleep very well because every time I would roll over, my heels would hit the bed or whatever and it would hurt so bad that I would immediately wake up.
Here is something else exciting! I found a jeweler to sell my engagement ring too. How much you ask? She still needs to look at it, but I told her about it and she was thinking about ₤1000-2000! That is $2000-4000! If it goes through, sorry Mum & Dad – I’ll be home on that Wed not Sunday as planned. I am only going to have this chance once – and I’m going to take it! As far as the little rumor mill at work – YES, for the millionth time, I am coming back to work. It’s not my first choice, but yes, yes, YES… I am returning to EPD. Please, stop reminding me that I have to return there.
I guess that is if for now. I will try to post again before I leave, but it’s probably doubtful. Just wait till I get back though, imagine these stories. Jamie, in Rome, by herself… I can’t wait!
